DAY TRIPS APP
Many people in San Diego struggle to find reliable and engaging information about nearby destinations for day trips. Existing resources may be scattered, lack user-friendly interfaces, or fail to provide a seamless experience for discovering and learning about these locations.
PROBLEM:
This project aimed to enhance the user experience by designing an app that simplifies finding and exploring day-trip destinations. Through brainstorming, research, and user-targeted design, the project developed a wireframe, selected cohesive colors and fonts, and used Figma to create a functional prototype.
SOLUTION:
BEGINNING STAGES
The color palette took inspiration from nature photography in order to align with the theme, reflecting the variety of activities available rather than relying solely on earthy tones. This allowed the colors to represent the dynamic experiences tailored to different user personas. To personalize the experience, users provide information on location, budget, group size, and activity preferences. Typography was selected to complement the adventurous and fluid aesthetic, enhancing the overall user experience.

When designing the wireframe, the focus was on incorporating targeted features to enhance the app’s functionality. The interactive map allows users to zoom in at the bottom when selecting locations, while an integrated review system enables seamless scrolling through user feedback. Additional features include real-time weather details and recommendations for essential items to bring. The landing page offers multiple entry options, including Sign Up, Sign In, or Continue as a Guest, along with an introductory survey for new users to tailor their experience.
